In a significant step toward sustainable construction and packaging, Fiberwood Ltd, a Finnish materials technology startup, has secured €7.7 million in growth funding. This latest investment round, supported by existing investors including Stephen Industries, alongside Metsä Spring and public financiers, will propel Fiberwood into the commercial phase with a focus on international expansion.
Founded in 2019, Fiberwood is dedicated to revolutionizing the building and packaging industries through its innovative use of circular, fossil-free materials. Utilizing forestry side streams and other natural fibers, Fiberwood has developed unique insulation and packaging solutions that are not only environmentally friendly but also resource-efficient and fully recyclable.
Tage Johansson, CEO of Fiberwood, highlighted the advantages of their products, stating, “Our products offer eco-friendly, recyclable and resource-efficient alternatives to traditional mineral wool-based insulation and cellular plastic-based packaging cushioning. Additionally, we enable the use of sustainable products in entirely new applications.”
The funding will enable Fiberwood to establish a test line to finalize product concepts and ensure industrial scalability. This strategic move is set to enhance R&D activities and accelerate the entry of Fiberwood’s products into commercial projects.
Stephen Industries is proud to support Fiberwood’s vision as it aligns with our commitment to backing innovative technologies that foster environmental sustainability and enhance global ecological health.
